Join T.A.P.E. Los Angeles for a non-toxic hand processing 16mm film workshop! Participants will collaboratively shoot 1 roll of 16mm black & white film, learn how to mix household chemicals into a photo developer, and process the b&w negative by hand!
A comprehensive crash course introduction to shooting 16mm film and processing your footage by hand using coffee and beer! Learn what goes into alternative photo processing and dive into the exciting world of sustainable and accessible darkroom practices! This is multiple workshops in one, all equipment and materials provided, and all levels of experience with either filmmaking or photochemical developing are welcome.
This workshop will cover the ins and outs of Bolex Rex 16mm cameras, purchasing used cameras, using different film stocks, processing labs and hand processing options available to independent filmmakers.
Everyone will receive a 2K scan of the results afterwards. Come join in on the fun of personal and experimental filmmaking on 16mm B&W film!

Workshop Policies:
Please arrive 5-10 minutes early for your workshop. Workshops start on time. If you are more that 15 minutes late for your class, you may forfeit your chance to take the class.
You may cancel for a refund up to 21 days before the workshop. After that, workshop fees are not refundable.
We reserve the right cancel or reschedule a workshop with fewer than 3 sign ups. If you cannot attend the rescheduled date, you will receive a refund.
Please note that we may take photos during the workshop to use on social media. If you do wish to be photographed, please let the teacher know when you arrive.
If you are sick, please stay home. Call or email to let us know that you are not coming. We can offer a 30% credit towards a future workshop. Our instructors are paid for every person enrolled in their class by the day of the class.
Last minute cancellations are extremely challenging for our guest teachers. Often times, materials have been meticulously prepared ahead of time. Keep in mind that late cancellations are a financial burden on these very special artists.
